Configuring and using the new storage system on a PC

With the migration to the new storage system, the way you access your MyStorage and MyWeb files may have changed depending on the computer you're using to access them.

If you're:

Accessing MyStorage from the residence halls (personally-owned computer )

If you created a shortcut to MyStorage before Sunday, July 27, 2003, it will no longer work. To set up a new shortcut, follow these directions, starting with removing the original shortcut.

Removing a shortcut

1.       Right-click on My Computer and choose "Disconnect Network Drive..."
(If this option does not appear under My Computer, try Network Neighborhood or similar.)

2.      Choose U: from the pull-down menu.

3.      Click OK.

Creating a new MyStorage shortcut

1.       Right-click on the My Computer icon and choose "Map Network Drive..."
(If this option does not appear under My Computer, try Network Neighborhood or similar.)

2.      In the Drive: field, use the pull-down menu and navigate to the U: drive.

3.      In the Folder: field, type \\mystorage\username$ substituting your username.
(Make sure you add a $ after your username.)

4.      Click in the "Reconnect at logon" box.

5.      Click Finish.

4.      Click in the "Reconnect at logon" box.

Using WebDAV to access MyStorage (off campus)

1.       Open Internet Explorer

2.      From the File menu, choose Open

3.      Enter https://mystorage.stthomas.edu/username in the field.
(Make sure you put an s after http.)

4.      Click in the "Open as Web Folder" box
(Clicking in this box allows you to upload and download files.)

5.      Click OK.

6.      Enter your UST username and password and domain "UST" whenever prompted. If you are not prompted for a domain, enter "ust/username" in the username field.

That's it! Now you can manage your files by dragging and dropping, or deleting--just like on campus.


Using WebDAV to access MyWeb
